Tailor-made wine tours: the Mendoza Wine Concierge

"Let's build the itinerary they have in mind, and let's build it properly." That's the principle behind personalised tours in Mendoza: instead of following a ready-made circuit, designing a day tailored to the traveller.

If you're planning your trip, discover our private winery tours in Mendoza — or explore our fine wine experiences.

In this guide we'll explain exactly what a personalised tour means, what advantages it has over standard tours and how a tailor-made itinerary is built.

Standard tour vs personalised tour: the real difference

Standard tour (group)

The tour you find on mass-market websites: 8 to 20 people in a minibus, a fixed departure time, the same route for everyone, the same lunch. It works as a packaged product.

  • Pro: the cheapest option on the market
  • Con: no flexibility, predetermined wineries, group pace, pre-set lunch

Personalised tour (private)

It's just for your group, with a comfortable vehicle, a dedicated bilingual guide and an itinerary built around your interests. The route is designed before the trip, in conversation with you.

  • Pro: maximum flexibility, wineries of your choosing, your own pace, personal attention
  • Con: a bigger investment than a group tour (it varies with group size)

For a first approach, we recommend reading our guide to organising a winery tour in Mendoza, where we explain in detail why we always recommend private options.

How a personalised tour is built

1. The first conversation

The process starts with a conversation (by WhatsApp, email or call). The key questions:

  • What kind of traveller are you? Wine lover, beginner, foodie, simply curious?
  • How many days do you have in Mendoza?
  • Which experiences interest you? Only wineries, or also mountains, food, adventure?
  • Are there any dietary restrictions?
  • Which wineries have you already visited?
  • Do you prefer popular places or more intimate experiences?

2. The itinerary proposal

With that information, a proposal is put together. Two or three wineries a day are chosen, the lunch is considered (at a winery, at a country restaurant, a picnic in the vineyard) and the optimal order is planned according to distances.

3. Bookings and coordination

Once the itinerary is approved, the agency handles every booking: wineries, restaurant, hotel transfers, guide. The traveller arrives and simply has to enjoy it.

4. The day of the tour

Hotel pickup, a comfortable vehicle (a premium car for 2 or 3 people, a Sprinter van for larger groups) and a bilingual guide who stays with you all day. The flexibility to linger at a winery or change the plan on the spot is one of the great advantages.

The most requested types of personalised tour

Expert wine lover

For those who already know Mendoza or have winemaking knowledge. Boutique wineries, vertical tastings, meetings with winemakers. A focus on technique and innovation. It usually includes specific parcels (single vineyard).

First time in Mendoza

For travellers who've never been. A balanced combination: an icon winery (Catena, Salentein), an intimate boutique and a gourmet lunch. A focus on the complete experience.

Romance and anniversaries

For couples celebrating something special. Intimate lunches at wineries with a view, sunset among the vines, coordinated surprises. Some wineries offer private romantic experiences.

Group of friends

Wineries with character, a relaxed lunch and the option of a group blending experience . A focus on fun and connection.

Bachelor and bachelorette parties

Bachelor and bachelorette parties in Mendoza are a unique experience. Wineries for groups, sunset among the vines, food and wine. We cover it in detail on the bachelor party page.

Corporate events

Team building at wineries, end-of-year parties, incentives. A combination of activity and enjoyment. Details on the corporate events page.

Families with children

Wineries that welcome children with activities for them (vineyard walks, games, a grape-juice workshop). Some winery restaurants have children's menus.

Most requested combinations: 2 days of wineries plus 1 day of High Mountain; 3 days of wineries plus a blending experience; wineries plus a city tour.

Suggested itineraries

The "Mendoza Classic" itinerary (3 days)

The "Wine Lover" itinerary (4 days)

  • Day 1: Luján de Cuyo — Catena Zapata, Achaval Ferrer and lunch at Casa Vigil
  • Day 2: Uco Valley — Salentein, Andeluna and lunch at a boutique winery
  • Day 3: Maipú — century-old wineries and a historical experience
  • Day 4: Blending Experience plus a vertical tasting at a selected winery

The "Family / Romance" itinerary (3 days)

  • Day 1: City tour of Mendoza plus dinner at a recommended restaurant
  • Day 2: Luján de Cuyo — family-friendly wineries and an intimate lunch
  • Day 3: with pairings plus a free afternoon

How much does a personalised tour cost?

The price depends on several factors:

  • Group size: the cost per person falls with more people
  • Type of wineries: the premium ones charge more for the visit
  • Type of lunch: from a light lunch to a gourmet tasting menu
  • Vehicle: premium car, SUV, van
  • Duration: half day, full day or several days

The cost per person falls as the group grows: a couple pays more per person than a group of 4 to 6, which is the optimal size for private tours. VIP experiences at top wineries involve a bigger investment. For an exact quote for your plan, message us on WhatsApp.

Common mistakes when building a personalised tour

  • Mixing regions on the same day: Luján plus the Uco Valley in one day is a bad idea because of the distances.
  • Overloading on wineries: more than 3 saturates the palate and wears you out.
  • Not thinking about lunch: a good winery lunch is central, not an accessory.
  • Ignoring the time of year: at harvest the wineries are busier; in autumn the landscapes are more beautiful.
  • Booking late: the top wineries need 30 to 90 days' notice in high season.

Why choose Vito Wine Tours for a personalised tour

  • 15+ years building tailor-made itineraries
  • Direct relationships with the top wineries in all three regions
  • Bilingual drivers and guides (Spanish, English, Portuguese)
  • Our own fleet of comfortable, modern vehicles
