Travel guide
Harvest, spring, winter and autumn. A month-by-month guide based on the kind of trip you're after.

"When should I come?" is the question we get most. The honest answer: there's no bad month in Mendoza. There are months that suit different travellers.
Mendoza's climate is high-altitude desert: clear skies most of the year, dry air, intense sun and cool nights. With more than 300 days of sun a year, the question isn't whether the weather will cooperate, but what kind of experience you want.
Harvest: February to April
It's our favourite time of year. The most alive Mendoza there is. The vineyards are in full harvest, the air smells of fermentation, the wineries are running flat out on the year's critical work, and at boutique wineries you can even take part in the picking.
The first celebrations of the harvest begin in late February with the Fiesta Nacional de la Vendimia in the city — colour, music, the harvest queen and fireworks. Through March and April every winery works at maximum intensity.
Weather: warm to hot days (28–32°C) and cool nights. Ideal for open-air lunches among the vines.
Ideal for: travellers who want to feel Mendoza at full tilt and don't mind sharing that energy with other wine lovers.
Spring: October to mid-December
The season of vineyards in bloom and a snow-capped Andes. October still has snow on the high peaks; the vineyards are pushing out their first leaves. November is electric — green vines, blue sky, perfect light. Photographers love this time.
Weather: mild days (20–25°C) and cool evenings. The wineries are less crowded than at harvest.
Ideal for: photographers, travellers who prefer atmosphere over activity, and honeymooners.
Winter: June to August
Mendoza's best-kept secret. Cold but crystal clear. Empty wineries. The Andes under snow. Tastings happen in cellars lit by candles with the fires burning. The most intimate season.
Weather: cold (highs of 10–15°C, lows near 0°C) with clear skies most days.
Ideal for: travellers who want maximum intimacy at boutique wineries and to combine Mendoza with skiing at Las Leñas.
Autumn and late December
Late December and May are the most underrated months. May in particular: vineyards in autumn red and gold, perfect weather for tasting and no crowds.
